For as long as he can remember Owain has had a passion for painting,
not just animals but a variety of subject matter. He studied Fine Art at
DeMontfort university where he concentrated mainly on figurative
painting, especially the classic nude. After university he continued to
focus on figurative painting and portraiture but only as a hobby. Over
the next few years he created a highly detailed and precise style which
is now the major hallmark of his work.
Recently Owain has begun
concentrating on his favourite subject matter of wildlife and domestic
animals, still using the highly detailed style he has developed.
Photography has also become an integral part of Owains work today.
He regularly takes trips to collect source material, mostly within the UK
but he has also travelled to countries such as India and Thailand.
Owain prefers to work with acrylic paints on either canvas or illustration
board, but he uses a variety of other mediums too. He uses a mixture
of paintbrush and airbrush techniques sometimes incorporating coloured
pencils.
He has recently started working full time on his art and is hoping to start
exhibiting his work in the near future.
